A Plan to Prevent Excessive Gasoline Expense

Lately, a trip to refuel your car at the gas station can leave you gasping for air (and not because of the fumes!). We all have sticker shock because of the cost of gasoline. There are simple ways to conserve on the consumption of gas and give your wallet a little break.
I talked about some ways to make sure your car is as efficient as possible in my recent article, Neglect Your Car and Pay the Price. Tips included everything from keeping your car maintenanced, to cutting back on your speed and using cruise control, to proper tire pressure.
All of these tips are essential, but one other tip can make the biggest difference of all… simple planning.
The busy lives of moms, wives and women mean that there’s always “plenty on our plate” that needs to be handled. But with some careful planning about our errands, a good game plan can save you a lot of expense and time.
Think ahead. Batch your errands. Know where you need to go in the coming weeks and make a plan. I can’t tell you how many times I have been “somewhere” that I realized “another place I soon needed to stop” was already around the corner!
Instead of just making a list of all the things you need to do, take it one step further and list those stops by location. Maybe the destination is only 10 miles away, but would you rather go to that area once… or four times? I think I already know your answer. (Once? Me too.)
Yes, a simple plan can save valuable dollars in fuel costs and also save valuable hours in your weekly “to do” list!
